Where should you go this summer?

Where should you go this summer?

When we think about summer, the first destination that usually comes into our minds is somewhere near the beach. However we suggest you to go to Madrid! Why should you go to the capital during these hot months of summer?

In recent years, Madrid has re-emerged as one of Europe´s great cities. The capital has a lot to offer and is home to a new generation of designer boutiques, restaurants… Madrid is also known for its world-class museums such as The Prado Museum, The Centro de Arte Reina Sofía or the Thyssen-Bornemisza. These museums, amongst others, are all located along a stretch of just over one kilometre, known as the Art Walk or Art Triangle. Also, Madrid is considered one of the greenest cities in Spain, with big shade trees to enjoy long fresh walks and our Retiro Park, a green lung in the middle of the city, so valuable in summer!

  • What is going on?
  • This summer the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum opens a new exhibition. From June 23 to October 4, and for the first time in Spain, discover the retrospective on the American painter Alex Katz. Still active today, he is one of the major figures in the history of the 20th century American art and a precursor of Pop Art. Since 1951, his work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions: 200 solo exhibitions and nearly 500 group exhibitions internationally. You should not miss this one!

We are happy to inform you that two new hotels will open in the city this summer.
The first one is the iconic Mandarin Oriental Ritz, which will open in Madrid at the end of this summer. This luxurious Belle Époque Palace enjoys an unbeatable location in the center of the famous Art Triangle. This building is part of Madrid´s society since its inauguration by the King Alfonso XII in 1910. After an extensive refurbishment, the hotel offers rooms and suites of a contemporary classic design, restaurants and bars under the supervision of the chef Quique Dacosta and many other impeccable services.
The second one is the Four Seasons Hotel, which will open in Madrid before summer. This is the first hotel of this luxury hotels brand in Spain and it is located a few meters from the famous Plaza del Sol, in Madrid´s heart. Seven historical buildings have been transformed into one complete lively structure and the hotel offers, among so many other services, a rooftop dining by Spanish celebrity chef Dani García, a four-level spa and a sun-splashed pool terrace.
